IBC 2017: AJA Announces Io 4K Plus with Thunderbolt 3

AJA Video Systems today announced the new Io 4K Plus capture and output device with support for Thunderbolt 3. Io 4K Plus offers the latest 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 I/O connectivity, advanced audio features and 4K/UltraHD support up to 50p/60p frame rates.

Io 4K Plus is the next generation of AJA’s capture and output hardware devices and AJA’s first Thunderbolt 3 product. Offering a range of connectivity, including 12G/6G/3G/1.5G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 I/O, Io 4K Plus is compatible with the latest 4K/UltraHD devices. Using AJA’s proven drivers and application plug-ins for macOS or PC, Io 4K Plus integrates with standard creative tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple FCP X and Avid Media Composer. AJA’s proven conversion technology facilitates real time, high quality scaling of 4K and UltraHD to HD for monitoring and output. Io 4K Plus also includes an additional Thunderbolt 3 port for daisy chaining flexibility.

Thunderbolt 3’s broad bandwidth allows Io 4K Plus to support 4K/UltraHD and HD large raster, high frame rate, deep color and HDR projects to Thunderbolt 3 via USB-C equipped workstations or laptops.

NAB 2016: Symply Unveils First Product Series, SymplyStor and SymplyShare

Symply, Inc., the new startup in high-performance storage for media and creative professionals, today unveiled its first product series, SymplyStor desktop RAID and SymplyShare for Thunderbolt and IP-connected workgroups.

SymplyStor desktop RAID delivers high-performance, easy-to-use storage with lightning fast throughput and low latency for demanding 4K and HD video production. Depending on performance needs, SymplyStor desktop RAID supports configurations in a choice of SSD or hard drives to provide capacities up to 64TB.

SymplyStor supports Thunderbolt 2 for throughput at 20Gb per second, and Thunderbolt 3 for throughput at 40Gb per second. When docked in a SymplyShare base, SymplyStor operates seamlessly with SymplyStor Expansion managed as a single RAID, up to a 120TB capacity and provides ‘plug-and-go’ collaboration for up to 8 users.

Powered by StorNext 5 and 100% Xsan compatible, SymplyStor management software provides a simple 5-step setup, and intuitive monitoring apps native on Mac OS X, Windows, on iOS for iPhone and iPad, and even watchOS.

The technology preview also shows how SymplyPro is designed to support up to 20 high-speed Fibre Channel clients in any combination of Apple Xsan, Windows or Linux clients, and additional IP-connected clients. SymplyStor desktop RAID is demonstrated today, live at NAB Show 2016 in Booth #SL9321, and will be available for immediate pre-order. SymplyStor is expected to ship July 2016.
