Why did they come to us?
Having partnered with several other local schools, St George’s College needed some way to record and broadcast their lessons to remote learners and other school sites.

What did they need?
The college needed to be able to record presentations by teachers and capture content from whiteboards and computers, then share it all online or on DVD.

How did we help?
We provided St George’s College with a Sony HVR-V1E HDV camera with a Sennheiser wireless microphone connected to an HVR-D60 hard drive recording unit, all of which could be activated by remote control. We also set up Camtasia, a screen capture program to record what students see on the interactive whiteboards, and provided custom templates for the college’s existing Final Cut deployment so that the content could be shared in different formats more easily.

What were the benefits?
The college now has a simple workflow for recording and sharing content via the web, their intranet or on DVD, whether that’s a straightforward lecture by a teacher or includes supporting material such as slides. If students ever record a lesson, the system will allow them to take different roles and build a range of key media skills.
