9:30am - 2pm • West Derby School, Liverpool L13 7HQ
Do you have a crack team of coding kids in your class? Can your pupils soar above the competition and program a Parrot drone to fly through our obstacle course? Can they program a Sphero robot to navigate the Jigsaw24 maze without getting lost in code? Then we want you to come and represent your school in Jigsaw24’s Ultimate Coding Challenge, with Apple and Jigsaw24 at West Derby School in Liverpool.
For our Ultimate Coding Challenge, we’ve teamed up with Apple to help teach pupils coding skills through a series of activities. Teams will be armed with iPad and will have to think like a robot to program their machines to beat our challenges… and each other. They’ll be scored on time and efficiency of code, and they will also have the opportunity to score bonus points within the challenges. They’ll learn valuable IT skills, get hands on with the latest tech, and be in with the chance to win a Parrot drone for your school.
Challenge One: Do you have the skills it takes to fly above the competition?
· Each team must negotiate an obstacle course by pre-programming a Parrot drone. Team members will use their flight skills to manoeuvre, flip, land and take off.
Challenge Two: Can you escape the Jigsaw24 maze?
· Teams must use their iPads to code their Sphero robot and successfully make it past all the obstacles and through the maze.
The finer details...
Students from years 4, 5 and 6 are welcome and you can enter more than one team from your school. Pupils must be in teams of four, with at least one member of staff per team from your school to take on our coding challenges. Get together your team of coding specialists, show off your skills, learn coding with Parrot drones and Sphero robots, and be in with a chance of winning a Parrot drone for your school.
