Abbey Road is one of the world’s most iconic recording studios, and to complement the studios’ impressive history, staff at the newly-opened Abbey Road Institute were keen to make sure they were teaching the most up to date production techniques.
“Our facilities have a combination of analogue and digital equipment in order to provide our students with the most up to date and relevant training to work in every kind of environment,” explained Managing Director Luca Barassi.
“Advanced knowledge of DAWs is a must these days, and Pro Tools is the most established software for recording here at Abbey Road Studios. An advanced knowledge of Pro Tools enables our students to seamlessly make that progression from being a student to working in a professional environment.”

Finding a technical partner
While the students do have access to the hallowed Abbey Road Studios and its recording equipment– even managing to record a session in fabled Beatles haunt Studio Two – the institute wanted its own top ight recording gear. We had previously supplied equipment to the studios, and as Luca explained, “Jigsaw24 came highly recommended, and as there was an established relationship with Abbey Road Studios it was a natural next step for us to work with them as well.

And it’s not just the students moods that are on the up – the rst cohort of graduates are out in the industry and have already landed roles at Metropolis Studios, Fossil Studios, Denmark Street Studios, the V&A, and EMI Archive Trust as well as Abbey Road Studios itself.
