Ardis Technologies' DDP storage works differently to other shared storage setups. For a start, it uses standard Ethernet networking and switches, so you can use it with your existing networks. Then, it uses the iSCSI protocol to give everyone on your network high-speed read and write access to the files they need. And finally, its unique virtual file system and metadata controller mean that all your available files are presented in a single, easy-to-navigate virtual storage volume, even if they’re actually in multiple locations, so users can always find what they need.
You can add new SSD and HDD storage volumes to your DDP storage on the fly, so it’s easy to expand as your archive grows. DDP gives you granular control about how data is distributed – perhaps you want to save SSD storage for caching, or want to assign quotas to different data locations. Ardis Technologies solutions are widely supported by creative applications, including Avid, Adobe, Autodesk, Grass Valley, DaVinci Resolve, DVS, Digidesign, Nuendo and Fairlight.
Ardis are a Dutch company based in Arnhem. They got their start building product and information management systems, and have since specialised in developing one-stop-shop solutions for projects and products that require a combination of hardware design and software development. The jewel in their crown is Dynamic Drive Pool, a radically different approach to shared storage that’s seen huge success in the media industry.
