Remote working solutions: Connect to your high-performance HP workstation from home

For some, remote working requires little in the way of expensive hardware – many people will only need a laptop and a VPN to continue working. But for those who use powerful, expensive workstations for intensive media workflows, it’s a lot harder to take devices home and continue working on projects.

Conal Siddall

Luckily, HP have the perfect remote connection software solution: HP ZCentral Remote Boost. This software (previously known as HP Remote Graphics Software) allows users to harness the power of their Windows desktop on a Mac, PC or even tablet remotely. By connecting the two devices, you can use all the computational power of your workstation at home, access your workplace data securely, and even collaborate with other users on the same project, at the same time.

It’s really easy, too! All you need to do is download two pieces of software (one for the sender, and one for the receiver) on your two devices, and you can connect and start editing remotely. You may question how well this will work on your home network – many remote desktop solutions can experience lag – but HP ZCentral Remote Boost offers you quick, responsive controls over your project, just like working on the machine itself.

Key features
Dynamic resizing

Users can dynamically resize the content to match the resolution of the device they're working on, or match it to the centralised hardware they're tapping into.

HP velocity

Velocity improves latency in wide area networks and increases network traffic tolerance, for solid performance even over poor connections.

4K and multi-display support

ZCentral Remote Boost supports 4K and multi-display setups, so your users can have the flexibility to work from almost any end-point device.

Touch gestures

Zoom, tap and swipe your way to productivity with the ability to control any application.

Graphics hardware acceleration

Achieve optimal performance, even with low network bandwidth. With Advanced Video Compression (AVC), the pixels being sent over the network are compressed to improve your frame rate.

Collaborate with colleagues

Easily collaborateon projects by inviting others to join their session. Users can take turns with the mouse, edit and share easily for the best collaborative experience.

Security

Regardless of what's sent over the network, your information is always encrypted. ZCentral Remote Boost transfers pixels only, so your data remains locked down.

Remote USB

With local control and access, you can virtually attach or block a USB device to a remote system.

Operating systems

This software is compatible with most desktop operating systems including Windows, MacOS and Linux. No need to install any extra drivers or app updates for supported operating systems.
