iMac Pro is now qualified with NEXIS 2018.3

Further to their hefty slate of NAB announcements, Avid have released an updated list of qualified workstations, which now includes iMac Pro.

Liz Sunter

iMac Pro is qualified for use with Avid Media Composer version 8.10 and greater, and requires you to be running a minimum of the Avid NEXIS v2018.3 client in order to work with NEXIS. iMac Pro also requires use of the on-board 1/10Gbps network adapter (it is not currently qualified for use with Thunderbolt NICs including the Apple TB > 1Gbps NIC, where these are connected to the shared storage network although they can of course be used to connect to other networks if required).

iMac Pro is qualified for use with external I/O devices but will require cable adapters to be used to convert the Thunderbolt 3 sockets on the iMac to suitable connections for the I/O device (a TB3 (USB-C) to TB2 adapter is required for Avid DNxIO, an Apple TB2 to TB3 adapter is required for Avid DNxIQ or DNxIV, and both a TB3 (USB-C) to TB2 adapter and an Avid TB2 to PCIe adapter is required for Avid Mojo DX).

The full details are available in Avid's Knowledge base - you can see the full NEXIS documentation here or take a look at the full list of qualified systems for Media Composer.
