The LaCie 5big Network 2 provides centralised network storage suitable for use with both Macs and PCs. It allows you to store share and backup files across the network yet still manage it all from one central place.

This 5big is a five bay model and this unit comes with 1TB drives fitted in each of the bays to provide a base capacity of 5TB. These drives are configurable in multiple different RAID options to allow you to protect your data against drive failure and adjust your storage solution depending on your needs and available drives. For example you can switch from using RAID 1 when you have two drives in to the more efficient RAID 5 when you have more. Expandability is also available, either by the addition of larger drives (up to a 10TB total capacity limit) or using the eSATA and USB expansion ports that come with it.

The 5big Network 2 has two Ethernet ports that can be used to connect it to the network. With two ports link aggregation can be done to double the performance level and as each port is gigabit Ethernet capable then high performance levels are within reach. This makes the 5big an excellent storage choice for those using rich media such as digital imaging or video editing who need performance as well reliability in their storage solutions.
