The MOTU 828mk3 Hybrid from MOTU is unique FireWire and USB2 audio interface that can also function as a standalone digital mixer. It provides ten channels of 192kHz analogue recording and playback, combined with sixteen channels of ADAT digital I/O and stereo S/PDIF. The interface can be expanded upon by connecting additional MOTU FireWire audio interfaces or the 8pre microphone input expander.
As an interface or standalone mixer, the 828mk3 hybrid provides twenty-eight separate inputs and thirty separate outputs, including dedicated main outputs and two front panel headphone outputs. These allow for connecting a multitude of studio gear, including microphones, guitars, synthesisers, keyboards, drum machines and even effects processors.
All of the live inputs can be used to record, monitor, route and process, using the on-board CueMix FX digital mixer, with no latency and no processor strain on the computer. Hardware DSP-driven compression, EQ and reverb can be applied to every input and output, independent of the host computer. When recording from the microphone/guitar inputs, the 828mk3's signal overload protection provides an extra 12dB of headroom above zero with no digital clipping or harsh artifacts.
