The PDW-U1 extends the IT credentials of XDCAM by offering a simple and portable drive that can be used with a PC or Mac for viewing purposes (using free Sony software) or full read/write access with a compatible NLE.
The PDW-U1 also supports the use of Dual Layer XDCAM media. Recording onto Dual Layer discs (50GB) is a feature of a range of new Sony products, including the PDW-F355 and PDW-F335 XDCAM HD camcorders, and the PDW-F75 XDCAM HD deck.
