The Camera features a 10X zoom 3.8 - 38 mm F1.8 lens with a 6 blade iris with both Automatic and manual mode. The assignable lens ring can be used to manually adjust the focus, iris and zoom settings, plus there is a professional style zoom rocker for servo zoom control. Optical Steady Shot image stabilisation with active mode has innovative 3 way shake cancellation with additional electronic roll stability.
The IR (infrared) illuminator enables night vision mode for shooting in very low lighting conditions. The 3.5" XtraFine LCD has reduced glare and higher contrast for a more natural and realistic preview. Built in GPS can be utilised to geo tag photo's, locations can even be tracked via Google maps and the GPS data extracted with a PC.
Field back up footage straight from the Sony camera to an external hard drive with out the need to copy via a computer. Once backed up the camera's powerful playback index can still be used to access and preview the clips via the camera. This is the first ever camera with IDX54 certification, enabling the camera to shoot in rainy and dusty conditions.
