Sony's MPE-200 Stereo Image Processor provides live real-time stereoscopic correction for mis-alignment, protecting the quality and value of live stereo images.
Working closely with 3D producers, the MPE-200 was created by SONY as a direct result of customer demand, Sony's Stereo Image Processor gets the best from live 3D productions. Greater flexibility means a reduction in operational costs, and an easier integration of 3D production into a traditional live production workflow.
3D images need delicate alignment in several axes. Even small errors can break the 3D illusion, or make it uncomfortable to view. Sony's Stereo Image Processor fixes most minor errors and optimises adverse parallax settings. Operators save set-up time, knowing that many issues can be fixed digitally.
The processor uses Sony's unique Cell technology, directly analysing and correcting the live 3D stereo feed to check alignment issues.
Future developments will integrate the 3D production processor with Sony's Cameras and Switchers to automate 3D stereo image correction and to reduce discomfort when switching between images with widely different depth content.
