The Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display is the first display to incorporate dual channel 10-Gbps Thunderbolt I/O technology. By connecting a Thunderbolt enabled Mac, the user will benefit from the display's built-in FaceTime 1280 x 720 pixel HD camera, 2.1 speaker system with integrated subwoofer, 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 FireWire 800 port, 1 Gigabit Ethernet port and a Thunderbolt port which allows the user to daisy chain up to an additional 5 Thunderbolt devices. Effectively the Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display is a fully fledged docking station.

The Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display has IPS technology ensuring a brilliant image with a viewing angle of 178 degrees. Due to it's ambient light sensor the display automatically adjusts the brightness based on the surrounding conditions meaning it uses only as much energy as is necessary to provide optimum viewing. Its built-in colour calibration has been expertly designed to offer high quality widescreen viewing for professional Mac users. Supporting screen resolutions of up to 2560x1440, and a cinematic 16:9 aspect ratio, the display's glossy finish intensifies colours and contrast, and provides instant full screen brightness. The Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display is fully compatible with all Thunderbolt enabled Macs through its Thunderbolt connector port, whilst the MagSafe interface allows you to charge your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air as you work.

The Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display's environmental credentials are impeccable: made with mercury-free LED backlit technology, arsenic-free glass and highly recyclable materials, the new display meets Energy Star 5.0 requirements and achieves EPEAT Gold status. The new display contains no brominated flame retardants and all cables and components are PVC-free. It also has a Kensington security slot.

You can also connect two Thunderbolt Displays to a Thunderbolt enabled 15" or 17" MacBook Pro, Thunderbolt enabled iMac or to a Thunderbolt enabled Mac Mini (with dedicated graphics only). However please note, that a second Thunderbolt display cannot be connected to a 13" MacBook Pro without the built-in display on the MacBook Pro going dark - this is expected behaviour. A second display will also not work with the MacBook Air range and Mac Minis (with integrated graphics only); these Macs can only power one Thunderbolt Display. Finally please note that the Thunderbolt Display can only daisy chain other Thunderbolt Displays, not Cinema Displays.
