The AKG C414B-XLS is a dual diaphragm multi-pattern condenser microphone that has earned a reputation as a firm favourite with sound recordists and studios the world over. The AKG C414B offers an exception level of sensitivity and uncoloured sound reproduction with very low self noise which allows the microphone to perform well on almost any acoustic source from vocals to drums, acoustic string instruments and orchestral sections.

The C414B-XLS offers a wide range of switching options, with cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional, wide-cardioid and figure-of -8 patterns available, plus 3 position bass roll off and 2 position pad switch allowing the AKG C414B to cope with high SPL environments as well as very quiet sources. The capsule itself sits within an elastic suspension to minimize mechanical vibration, and coloured LED's provide visual indication of polar pattern, bass cut frequency and proper microphone positioning. The polar pattern LED will even dim when the signal is considered too far off-axis.
