It’s a good day to be an Autodesk user. Not only have the 3D giants revealed new features for their M&E range, they’ve also dropped the price of Entertainment Creation Suites and announced that you can upgrade to the Entertainment Creation Suite Ultimate for 20% less.
Upgrade to Entertainment Creation Suite Ultimate for the price of an Entertainment Creation Suite Premium upgrade
If you’re on an edition of Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3ds Max or Autodesk Softimage from 2014 or earlier (down to Maya, 3ds Max or MotionBuilder 2008 or Softimage v7.5), you have until October 25th to upgrade to an Entertainment Creation Suite Ultimate for the same price as an upgrade to Entertainment Creation Suite Premium.
Why buy a Suite? Well, they contain multiple Autodesk products and work out significantly cheaper than buying each of those products individually (under standard pricing, you’d save 42% by going for an ECS Premium, and 46% by choosing ECS Ultimate, which gives you access to 3ds Max and Maya).
Practically speaking, Entertainment Creation Suites give you the advantage of having all the software you need available at all times, so if a project requires an additional artist, you can instantly give them access to 3ds Max, Maya, Mudbox, Softimage and Sketchbook Designer – whatever they need to get the job done. If one freelancer needs 3ds Max and another Maya, you already have both in-house, and don’t have to complicate your web of software licences by taking on a new copy of either program just for the duration of one job.
If you currently use software from a lot of different vendors, a suite is one of the most affordable ways to consolidate all your work into a single pipeline running on a single platform, with tight integration between all its components. This will make your workflow more stable, reducing technical incompatibilities, removing the time you have to waste transferring projects from format to format and make it easier for your artists to work quickly and collaboratively.
Up to 20% reductions on new licences
Last but not least, Autodesk have also announced discounts on new licences (not upgrades) across the board. The full list of reductions reads:
– 20% off the SRP on Ultimate Editions of eligible Design and Creation Suites
– 15% off the SRP on Premium Editions of eligible Design and Creation Suites
– 10% off the SRP on Standard Editions of eligible Design and Creation Suites
– 10% off the SRP on AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Map 3D, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD P&ID, AutoCAD ecscad, Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk 3ds Max Design, Autodesk Maya, and Autodesk Softimage.
The deal runs from August 7th to October 18th 3013, so best to get clicking while stocks last.
