McDSP have shown they’re on board with Avid Pro Tools 11, releasing 64-bit AAX Native and DSP versions of a range of their plug-ins, designed specifically for PT11 users on Mac.
AAX is the new plug-in format for Avid Pro Tools 11 (initially introduced with v10) and, while 64-bit is still very much the hot topic in the world of audio production, it’s good to see McDSP supporting those at the cutting edge with a whole raft of 64-bit AAX plug-ins.
This is a Mac only release at the moment (McDSP have also hinted that a 64-bit Windows release will be coming shortly), and requires you to have the iLok2, but it is a free upgrade for any existing McDSP v5 customers. The release means that all v5 products are now available in 32/64-bit AAX except for Revolver and Channel G Surround, which are still currently being ported to AAX.
In addition to support for AAX DSP, AAX Native, TDM, and RTAS plug-in formats, all McDSP plug-ins now include 64-bit support for the Audio Unit (AU) plug-in format, which means not only can you use them in Pro Tools HD, LE, and M-Powered, but also in Logic, Garage Band, Digital Performer, Ableton Live and all other AU compatible DAWs.
