Business iPad app of the month: Salesforce1

This month our iPad app of the month is one that we use a great deal in our business. We’re looking at Salesforce and the new Salesforce1 mobile app. The Salesforce1 app is free to download for iOS devices for those of you that are paying Salesforce customers.

What is it?

Salesforce1 is a mobile version of Salesforce, the customer relationship management platform. Announced at the Dreamforce ’13 event, Salesforces1 gives its users realtime access to the same information on Salesforce that they would see in the office, but on their mobile devices.

How does it work?

Put simply, Salesforce1 provides you with access to Salesforce on your phone and tablets. You can review, update, create, collaborate and communicate through the app while out of the office (there’s no escaping now). The app offers built-in feed-first user interfaces, notifications platform and publishing actions.

Who is it for?

Paying Salesforce customers. It’s a great addition for people working out of office as it gives them the access to their work on the go. The app can be used for record viewing, creation, and updates and dashboards. According to Bluewolf’s ‘State of Salesforce Annual Review’ 42% of respondents are already using the Salesforce Chatter Mobile/Salesforce1 application[1].

What’s the best feature?

We’re impressed with the app as a whole but find the ‘Today’ tool to be our favourite feature. The ‘Today’ tool pulls together the calendar on your device and all the information inside your Salesforce. You can easily review all of your details for meetings including, who’s been invited to the meeting, their contact details and meeting locations. One bit we’re particularly impressed with,is, if you’re running late for an appointment you can select a ‘quick message’ which will send out an “I’m running X minutes late” to all the people invited to the appointment. We like that you can see a comprehensive list of all your days meetings/account details and tasks to be completed, as well as urgent messages and most importantly post-work pub trip arrangements.

How much it is and where can I get it?
