Being able to share ideas quickly and easily is essential for collaboration in the classroom, and sharing your ideas in the form of a sticky note is a popular method used by teachers and students. Flick for iPad lets you do this by ‘flick’-ing your notes (and photos) from one device to another.
What is Flick for iOS devices?
Flick (ydangle, free) is really simple to use – just write a note and flick it to any other device running Flick using the multitouch gestures of iPad, and you can flick a photo in the same way. As well as iPad, Flick works equally well on all iOS devices, so you can even flick between your iPad and iPhone or iPod touch.
How can it benefit the classroom?
Flick will benefit students who are collecting their ideas (or photos) in groups. Let’s say you are brainstorming ideas about the lesson topic – each student writes down their own ideas, then flicks them to a ‘group leader’. Or students can pass the same note from one device to the next, adding their ideas to the note before passing it on.
What’s the best feature?
The best thing about Flick is that, although some functionality is similar to AirDrop, it works just as well on devices that can’t use AirDrop, such as the older iPad 2, which is very popular in education. The other thing we really like is its ‘pass the ball’ game – this is great for icebreaking activities with groups who haven’t met before!
Where can I get it?
Flick (ydangle, free) is available from the App Store on your iOS device or from iTunes. Best of all, it’s completely free!
