Statement of Compliance with WEEE Guidelines
Why is WEEE important?
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) equates to more than 1.2 million tonnes of household waste every year – enough to fill the new Wembley Stadium 6 times over. Deriving from numerous sources including offices, homes and factories, the majority of this electrical waste is discarded alongside general waste and is ultimately disposed of in landfill sites around the country.
It is now a requirement, under UK and European legislation, that all individuals and businesses endeavour to recycle their WEEE. In addition to being high in volume and therefore occupying a great deal of space, WEEE often contains hazardous substances such as lead (in solder) and cadmium (in batteries). These toxins, if not disposed of correctly, leave both human and natural communities at risk. Wherever possible, old electrical waste should be disposed of separately to household waste.
To help you ascertain which products qualify as WEEE and to remind you to recycle, all new electronic products are marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol:

How can you dispose of your WEEE?
Many civic amenity sites (or ‘household waste recycling centres’) have been upgraded to Designated Collection Facilities (DCFs). It is at any one of these DCFs that you can dispose of your WEEE safely.
The original producers of your WEEE will ensure that all deposited items are taken away and recycled. Please be considerate when depositing these items, as the equipment will be further handled during the recycling process.
What is our involvement?
As an environmentally-conscious business, Jigsaw Systems Ltd has chosen to join the nation-wide Distributor Take-Back Scheme (DTS). Through this scheme, Jigsaw has made a financial contribution that will be used to assist in the provision and development of WEEE collection facilities in all Local Authorities around the UK.
Where can I find my nearest DCF?
Non-household WEEE should be disposed of differently to household WEEE. For non-household WEEE disposal, many companies operate a WEEE collection service for a small charge. Contact our Customer Services for more details.
