Data Storage and Video Production
at Setanta Sports
Setanta Sports wanted to expand its video production facilities and start doing all their editing in- house. Jigsaw24 suggested and installed several Mac Pro suites and helped them make huge savings on production costs. We continued to work with them in the months that followed and helped them accommodate the rapid growth in their facilities.

Why did they come to us?
Setanta’s London office was originally a chiefly administrative facility; any production work at the site would entail the use of expensive rented decks and hired post-production facilities. Setanta decided to expand their own facilities, and bring all post-production in-house with a number of new editing suites. When Setanta contacted a broadcast consultant to oversee this project, they in turn suggested Jigsaw24.
What did they need?
Editors using these suites had to collaborate fully on the same project folders and data, accessing shared footage and clips. Since the use of this facility was expected to increase rapidly, the capacity for adding more edit stations and further shared file storage for new projects was also essential.
How did we help?
We provided several Mac Pro-based editing suites and a back-end storage system built around Apple’s Xserves, with XSAN managing the shared file access. We’ve continued to configure and support additional workstations as the facility has expanded.
What were the benefits?
As they no longer rely on rented equipment, Setanta are making savings of up to £4000 a week, and the facility has already paid for itself. In fact, it’s been so popular that they’ve had to expand to a second site. The SAN we built them in unusual in that it allows shared read/write access for easier, faster collaboration, and centralised user accounts and data mean that editors can log in from any workstation in the suite.
