Hear from award-winning director of photography Jeremy Humphries on how to get the most out of the new Sony FS7 Mk II, including discussion on how he recently shot Hunted and Escape to the Wild, and his experiences using the FS7 and FS7 Mk II. He’ll also share his expertise on shooting in extreme environments (Tonga, anyone?) and you'll have the chance to get hands-on with the FS7 Mk II and its accessories!

Our expert speaker:

Jeremy is a BBC-trained, award-winning director of photography with over 35 years of experience. He has filmed documentaries around the world in extreme and diverse locations, from South Africa and Zanzibar to the Pacific Rim and North Pole. He also trained contestants of Bear Grylls' The Island on how to use camcorders in extreme conditions.

We’re waking audio and video experts up bright and early, and bringing them down to Soho for our upcoming series of Tech Breakfasts! Kicking off at 9am, they’re a great opportunity to hear from clued-in pros about the latest industry developments and get some free technical training while you take a pit stop on your way to work.

Following the success of our events over the summer, our next Tech Breakfasts will focus on an introduction to encryption, followed by 40/56 GbE Ethernet over copper and new networking standards in October. We’ll be laying on some breakfast bites to get you ready for the day ahead, and our experts will be hanging around afterwards so you’ll have the chance to put your tough technical questions to them.

Phil Crawley, Head of Systems Integration, root6
Phil has over 30 years’ experience as a broadcast engineer. He was previously the Technical Director of The Resolution Post Group, Chief Eingineer at Oasis Television, and worked on the first three series of Big Brother before joining root6 to oversee the design commission and certification of systems integration projects. In his spare time, he makes handheld games consoles and is a member of the Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers (SMPTE).
Matt Ward, Senior Engineer, root6
Matt worked with some of London’s leading music recording studios before making the jump to video post and handling delivery to national broadcasters. He’s worked in post-production and broadcase ever since. He’s a member of the SMPTE, and was previously a Technical Manager at Strongroom Post-Production, Breathe Post-Production and Air Post-Production.

We’ve managed to pin down legendary composer and producer Neil Davidge for an evening at our Soho service and customer experience centre. Neil, best known for his work with Massive Attack, will be talking all about his past film, TV and video game projects (including Clash of the Titans, Trouble the Water and Halo 4), his experiences using Pro Tools (since 1994!), and his current film about the making of his album Slo Light.

We’ll be playing tracks and sessions from Slo Light, as well as revisiting Mezzanine and examining how the tracks were created. Sign up for your chance to hear from Neil and Avid, and pick their brains over a beer or two.
