Adobe Creative Cloud

Introduction Arrow

Creative Cloud is Adobe’s new online workspace for creatives. You can download the most up to date versions of all the key Creative Suite apps to your desktop – including extras like Lightroom, Muse and Edge alongside Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator - save projects in cloud storage, share them with clients to speed up approvals (even if they don’t have Creative Suite themselves) and even sync content between your desktop computer, laptop, tablet and smartphone, so you’re never caught without the most recent versions of your work. What’s new in Creative Cloud
for teams?

Like any new Adobe release, Creative Cloud came complete with a barrage of new features that make your digital publishing workflow simpler and more efficient. Highlights include:

Behance access included – A Creative Cloud subscription now gives you access to “online creative collective” Behance, which allows designers of all stripes to showcase their work and scout for the best talent.

Sharing documents on the go – Creative files can now be stored on and accessed from Macs, PCs, iOS devices and Android devices, with any changes being rolled out across all devices that access the file almost instantly.

New features in Photoshop – New highlights coming to Photoshop CC include a tool that reduces image blur brought on by camera shake, a redesigned Smart Sharpen utility, improved upsampling, and the ability to apply RAW edits as a filter in any layer.

InDesign CC gets 64-bit support – …and is also going to be treated to a new user interface, support for your Mac’s Retina Display, access to Creative Cloud’s sharing features and an all-new QR Code Creator so you can get people from your print work to your website in a jiffy.

Illustrator CC learns to Touch Type – You’ll now be able to use Touch Type to manipulate individual characters within Illustrator as if they were discrete objects.

How does it differ from Creative Suite?

Aside from heading in to the cloud and making it easier to share, collaborate and access the most up to date files, Creative Cloud comes with all-new tools that you won’t have found in CS6.

Adobe Digital Publishing Suite (DPS) – Included in Creative Cloud for teams is a Single Edition version of DPS, Adobe’s solution for traditional design teams that now want to deliver unlimited portfolios, brochures, books and more as iPad apps, all using skills you’ll already have mastered in InDesign.

Muse – Create code-free HTML websites with Muse, Adobe’s simplest web design solution. Muse lets you create website layouts as if they were print ones, then quickly and easily create versions for mobile devices and add interactive elements.

Edge Toolkit – Adobe’s Edge toolkit gives you everything you need to make sure your web designs are easy to code, control, edit and export, all while supporting creative features like animation and typography.

Business Catalyst – Covering everything from content management to analytics, Business Catalyst makes it possible for any web designer with half a brain to offer online delivery and marketing solutions, meaning you can offer your clients more or bring your own web marketing in house.

Typekit – 2300 fonts developed over 31 years, all optimised for the web and designed to display seamlessly no matter which browser or device your viewers use.

Lightroom – Organise and begin editing your images from the moment you shoot with Adobe Lightroom, which lets you manage metadata, remove distortion and correct your RAW images before you even get close to Photoshop.

The Value Incentive Plan

The Value Incentive Plan (VIP) is Adobe’s new membership-based subscription programme for Creative Cloud for teams. It lets you purchase, manage, and assign permissions to use Adobe software and services to users through a really simple, easy to use portal.

VIP uses a simple enrolment process to initiate your Creative Cloud membership (basically, your Jigsaw24 contact sets up a VIP portal and invites you in, but instead of caviar and champagne you get Creative Suite 6 and web hosting services). You then deploy the software as needed, and you can monitor who’s got access to what. Becoming a VIP member also lets you keep track of all your Cloud members in a single agreement with a single anniversary date, even if you add extra seats part way through the year, so you never lose track of what needs renewing.
