Pro Tools HD systems are the world's most popular platform for audio production in both music recording and sound for picture post production. The HDX Core System is the hardware the enables Pro Tools HD software to deliver massive surround mixes with no system slowdown and realtime processing.

Pro Tools HDX Core comprises a PCIe core with powerful DSP processors, connectivity for up to 64 channels of I/O per card and direct connection to an Avid Sync HD device enabling your Pro Tools HDX system to chase or drive many different types of timecode with sample accuracy - even frame locking to video sources.

The DSP processors on an HDX card run the Pro Tools Mixer, taking a load of your computer's CPU. In addition, they can also run DSP-based AAX plug-ins, meaning that even the largest surround mixes won't grind your computer to a halt. In comparison to previous Pro Tools HD systems, a single HDX card provides the equivalent power of an HD5 system. Multiple HDX cards can be used in one computer for a scalable system capable of running up to 768 tracks of audio.

A Pro Tools HDX system requires direct connection to a Pro Tools compatible audio interface via the mini Digi-Link connectors. As well as Avid's own HD OMNI, 8X8X8, 16x16 or HD MADI interfaces, direct connection is also possible to third party interfaces from manufacturers such as Apogee, Focusrite, Trinnov and others allowing you to create a custom setup that perfectly supports your needs. (NOTE - in order to use a third party interface with an HDX system, a Digilink License is required. This is included with an Avid-branded HD I/O but if you choose to have only third party interfaces this license can be purchased directly from Avid's website)

A Pro Tools HDX Core requires Pro Tools HD software and will not work with the standard version of Pro Tools. And HDX Core system can also function as a Core Audio / ASIO device for use with non-Avid software.

This includes a full perpetual license for Pro Tools HD Softwar.
